What is a RISC Franchise?


RIG Investigator & Security Careers Ltd (RISC) is a leading recruitment agency within the security industry with a development plan, based on a proven successful pilot scheme, to expand and become the leading national recruitment agency within the security sector. The opportunity is vast; following two successful years trading, we have established a strong brand with a national client base and are now looking for others to share in our success.

RISC is part of the Recruitment Investment Group (RIG), an investor in start-up recruitment businesses focused on niche market segments. RIG has successfully built and developed a platform which allows companies to start up and grow into profitable businesses at a faster rate than organisations in similar market places.

As a RISC franchisee you will have the benefit of running your own business under the umbrella of a recognised recruitment brand within the security industry, coupled with the first class back office support of RIG.

Why set up a franchise within recruitment?


Over the past 20 years, the recruitment sector has seen continual growth and there is no reason to expect this to change in the future.

As an industry, recruitment has low cost of entry: all you need is office space and basic office equipment (telephone, IT etc) which, combined with low overheads, quickly generates excellent profit levels.

By undertaking our comprehensive training programme, you will be in a position to generate fee income within the first month of coming on board and the more effort (time and people) that you invest, the greater the reward.

The security sector currently employs up to 500,000 people from the factory gate to the boardroom and has staff turnover levels of 28%, creating considerable opportunities for recruiters working in the sector.

Security has become an ever increasing aspect of the national day to day psyche, with events such as 9/11 and 7/7, as well as looking forward to the 2012 Olympic Games and beyond. This is coupled with the increased incidence of identity and financial fraud against individuals and companies.

It has also been subject to considerable legislation in recent years. The Private Security Industry Act 2001 brought into being the Security Industry Authority (SIA), charged with the objective of raising standards of professionalism and skills within the private security industry, as well as to promote and spread best practice. This has made it harder for individuals to enter the industry as the requirements for training and quality have risen and with a reduced supply of suitable candidates available, it has become harder for companies to recruit. This, in turn, has led to the increased use of recruitment agencies to fulfil their requirements.

Why RISC?


RIG was founded by Bryan Lloyd and Peter Flaherty with the objective of developing successful recruitment businesses within niche market sectors in 2002. Both Bryan and Peter come from a background of building and nurturing recruitment businesses:

Peter built a leading publicly floated IT recruitment company in the 1990’s (MSB International Plc) taking it from a turnover of £4m to £200m. Bryan was CEO of Spring IT and European CEO of Manpower IT; so both have a considerable knowledge of the recruitment market.

The successful RIG organisations have been built around strong business support systems, allowing the recruitment teams to focus on expanding their sales and revenue, whilst the support functions have been managed centrally. These functions have been refined and developed further to ensure the success of RISC and its franchises.

One company set up in 2002 (RIG Police Recruit) was the 3rd fastest growing company in the UK in 2007 (source: Fasttrack in association with The Sunday Times) and the fastest growing recruitment business. Two of the other businesses, RIG Medical Recruit and RIG Energy, were not included in this report due to group structure, but would have come in at 36th and 69th respectively; each has grown into to national businesses with multi million pound turnovers in less than five years.

In 2005, Bryan and Peter recognised the potential of the security sector as a recruitment market, following the growth of security in the national perception and the increased threats of crime and security as well as identity and banking theft and fraud.

Since then, RISC has been successfully trading as an independent business from offices in Reading and has yielded over 50% growth in net fee income year on year.

RISC supplies security staff at all levels including: security managers, heads of security and operational security staff (including guards and CCTV operators). We supply staff as temporary cover and into permanent full time jobs.

Having operated for the past two years from Reading, we have established a strong national client and candidate base; but realise that for us to become the first national security recruitment company, we  need to  establish a national network of offices and are looking for business-focused and motivated individuals to share in our success.

Investments & Rewards


To invest into a typical RISC franchise there is an up front fee of £30,000 (+ VAT), which we will use to help you develop your business. This will include:

•    Initial induction & ongoing training of management and staff to the recruitment and security market.
•    The set-up and initial use of our front end database management system (FCP Evolve).
•    Use of the RISC brand and association with other RIG businesses.
•    Your own RISC website and other jobsites, to attract clients and jobseekers.
•    Your own exclusive geographical territory.
•    Initial business support, contractor pay and bill, staff payroll and credit control.
•    Access to preferential debt factoring and banking facilities.
•     Support with initial resourcing of recruitment consultants.
•    Assistance with sourcing office space and negotiating leases.
•    Access to our existing client and jobseeker database and national accounts.
•    Continual support from our franchise management team.
•    Shared national accounts.

Our primary source of income is through the ongoing royalty we charge on the revenue generated by your business, so we can both make money together by growing your business together.
