Happiest employees work for small companies

Staff working for small businesses are the most satisfied at work. A Trades Union Congress-sponsored report noted low morale amongst one in four of the UK's companies and organisations but it also revealed significant levels of job satisfaction in SMEs. Staff in small firms felt more engaged with decision-making and reported the most freedom to choose their own work patterns. There were also far fewer incidents of bullying in smaller companies. The survey would seem to suggest that six million workers in Britain are unhappy with their work and these staff are mostly in big public and private sector organisations.
