Holidays out of the question

Pressures at work are preventing owner-managers from taking a break from the business, according to communications firm Unicom. Its study of work patterns in 2008 reveal that 42% of small firm owners have discounted the possibility of a holiday in the near future. Of those who said they would be able to take a rest, 39% thought it unlikely this would be at a convenient time for the rest of the family. This survey follows a report from the Bank of Scotland Business Section that indicated that owner-manages are suffering from increased stress due to an average 50-hour working week. The average length of annual leave among entrepreneurs was 15 days, it discovered.
