Older siblings make better entrepreneurs

A Barclays Local Business survey has discovered that older siblings are the most likely to become successful entrepreneurs. Forty-one per cent of small business owners are the first-born son or daughter. However, the report suggests that there is no such thing as an 'entrepreneurial gene' - 61 per cent of owner managers say they do not have a family member who runs a business. The research does indicate some geographical influence though. In London, 22 per cent of entrepreneurs have owned more than three businesses while in the East of England only two per cent have had additional businesses.
