Over 50s make Britain enterprising

A sixth of all new businesses are founded and run by people over 50, according to research commissioned by Yellow Pages. The average turnover of these firms is £67,500 per year, although 10 per cent had turnovers in excess of £100,000. The greatest motivation for over-50 entrepreneurs was the desire to do something more pleasant than employed work and a better work/life balance. More than half of these new businesspeople were happier than they had ever been, the survey discovered.
