One Stop Franchise officially launches 100th store
Latest opening marks £5 million investment in independent sector to date
One Stop Franchise has officially opened its 100th store after a full re-fit, following May’s announcement it had reached treble figures just fifteen months since the scheme was rolled out. The opening also marks One Stop’s investment in the independent sector reaching a staggering £5 million, since it launched its pilot back in March 2013.
One Stop’s 100th franchisee is The Prior Way, owned by Vip and Jo Measuria and located on Priorway Avenue in the Borrowash area of Derby. With a sales area of 1,800 sq ft, it’s ideally located to serve the main estate surrounding its locality and is complemented by an adjacent fish and chip shop, which is also owned by the couple. The store features PayPoint, Lottery, a free to use ATM and Collect Plus services, in addition to the usual selection of chilled, frozen and ambient ranges, off-licence, One Stop’s great meal deals and a raft of regularly changing offers.
To celebrate its re-opening, The Prior Way held a huge launch party on Saturday 22 August, under the theme of “100 stores and counting”. With lots of activities taking place, the event captured the imagination of the local community, whilst also raising funds for the Derby County Community Trust (DCCT). Attractions included a bouncy castle, face painters and a fantastic ‘Beat Rammie’ football game. In addition, there were goody bags for the first 100 customers, half price chip shop deals, £2 toy bags for children, charity football scratch cards and a major raffle with prizes such as a Derby County signed shirt, football and match tickets, theme park tickets and more. With 2,000 leaflets distributed in the surrounding area, Vip and Jo saw a bumper turnout on the day, with the store officially opened at 11am by the Mayor of the City of Derby, Councillor Paul Pegg and joined by Derby County’s official mascot Rammie.
All money raised on the day will be donated to the Derby County Community Trust, which is committed to engaging and inspiring young people in the community to achieve their potential. The Prior Way already supports the local community, with deliveries to a local retirement home just one of their activities, but the store will strengthen its links following the relaunch, with the installation of a One Stop food bank collection bin as well as one of its clothing banks. In addition, Vip and Jo will present 100 high visibility vests to three local schools on their return in September.
