Papa John’s partners with Save the Children

The pizza franchise, Papa John’s, has announced its partnership with the children’s charity, Save the Children, alongside British Olympic heroes Amy Williams and Jamie Baulch, for the unveiling of Den Day. The campaign will offer children the chance to win the den of their dreams.
The pizza chain has launched a national competition where children submit a design of what their ideal den would look like. The winning design, which will be chosen by a judging panel, will then be built as a full size structure.
Save the Children’s Den Day takes place from Friday 17 to Saturday 18 June. Families, schools and community groups across the UK will unite to build a den, and raise money, which will be used by the charity to transform the lives of children around the world.
Supporting the campaign is former skeleton racer and Olympic gold medalist, Amy Williams MBE. She said: “This is a great opportunity for children to let their imaginations run wild. Whether you want drawbridges, turrets, stables or spaceships, we want to see some really creative designs. And who knows, you could be sleeping in the den of your dreams soon!
“The money raised from Den Day will mean that Save the Children can give more vulnerable children around the world a safe place to shelter and the things they need to grow up healthy and happy.”
Jamie Baulch, former 400 metre world indoor champion and Olympic 4x400 metre relay champion, added: “It’s a privilege to be involved with the Den Day initiative, which aims to raise money for children living in some of the world’s toughest countries.”
Andrew Gallagher, director of marketing for Papa John’s UK, said: “Dens are really fun to build, so we thought a competition to give one lucky youngster the chance to see their dream den come to life would be a great way to celebrate Den Day.
“Millions of children around the world are living in difficult and very often dangerous conditions. Papa John’s is proud to be part of a campaign that helps provide children with vital support, such as food and water, healthcare, protection and education.
“We’re excited to see what children’s creative minds can come up with as we’ve had great fun creating our own Dream Den, a castle made of Papa John’s pizza boxes, complete with drawbridge to ensure that the delivery driver can deliver our pizzas right into our den!”
Vicky Fallon, head of fundraising campaigns at Save the Children, said: “This is a wonderful competition that will give children the opportunity to be as creative as possible and I can’t wait to see the entries. And what’s more exciting is the fact that one of these designs will actually be built.
“Save the Children is grateful to Papa John’s for its support and for helping to spread the Den Day message to families across the UK.”
