Driver Hire announces growth of three times the industry average

Published: 28 October 2016

Logistics recruitment franchise Driver Hire is celebrating after its nationwide turnover has grown by three times the franchise industry average.

Figures from the British Franchise Association (bfa) show that the average turnover in the industry has grown by 12 per cent over the past five years, whereas Driver Hire’s growth is 36 per cent.

The average Driver Hire franchise now has a full-year turnover in excess of £1million, compared with the industry average of £378,000 (according to the bfa/NatWest Franchise Survey 2015).

As a result, Driver Hire has seen an increase in new franchisees, including James Craven, who left his career as a business change consultant in Switzerland to buy the Driver Hire Bournemouth branch.

James said: “I was looking to move back to the UK. A business contact that has been a Driver Hire franchisee for a number of years suggested I considered one for myself.

“I did some research, met representatives from Driver Hire at a franchise exhibition and talked to more of their franchisees. The thing that made Driver Hire really stand out from the rest was the enthusiasm exuded by its franchisees.”

Graham Duckworth, Driver Hire’s franchise sales director, added: “There’s no doubt that buying a franchise can be an excellent investment. Over the past 30 years we’ve developed an excellent business model and a service for which there is a clear demand.

“Of course, as with any business, you have to be prepared to work hard to develop your patch. Do that, and, as the figures show, there are rich rewards to be had.”
