The bfa’s Great Northern Breakfast returns to Manchester

Published: 19 May 2017

The British Franchise Association (bfa) is returning Manchester’s EventCity in June for its annual Great Northern Breakfast.

The event, taking place on Friday 16 June, will provide an opportunity to network with professionals in the franchising industry, before The British Franchise Exhibition opens its doors the same weekend.

This summer’s only bfa-approved franchise event, The British Franchise Exhibition is set to be a highlight of the industry calendar. On 16 and 17 June, visitors will have access to a diverse range of franchise brands, expert advice and over 40 free seminars, including a keynote presentation by Abel Campos, head of franchising at McDonald’s UK. Visit FranchiseInfo.co.uk for full details and free tickets.

After the breakfast, attendees will have the chance to hear from a panel of franchisors and franchisees about their journey in franchising so far.

Business correspondent Joe Lynam will present his keynote address. Joe regularly reports for the Today programme and Newsnight, and across multiple mainstream media networks. Before becoming a journalist he ran his own business, a chain of pubs and restaurants in Germany. As a result, he has first-hand experience of hiring, firing, growth, credit and business life.

Franchising has seen strong growth in the North West of England for several consecutive years.

According to the latest bfa/NatWest Franchise Survey, franchising in the North West alone contributed £1.6billion to the UK economy, a 23 per cent increase over the preceding five years.

This success has been driven by 4,400 franchise-business owners, providing an estimated 62,000 jobs in the North West.

In the week leading up to the Great Northern Breakfast, the bfa will use social media to highlight real-life success stories from franchise brands in the North.

This is part of a wider bfa initiative to put franchising on the map, and raise awareness of business format franchising as an accessible launch pad into the world of business. Follow this campaign using #bfaGNB17.
