Dessert parlour franchise Creams Cafe is quickly approaching the opening of its 50th store in the UK.

The restaurant, which recently opened new sites in Hammersmith, Ilford, Manchester, Walthamstow and Woolwich, has a secondary target of 100 stores open by April 2018, including in Leeds, Liverpool and the first Scottish site in Glasgow.

Chris Palmer, head of business development, says: "We’re thrilled to be approaching our goal of 50 restaurants in the UK, setting the momentum for the year ahead to bring more high-quality desserts to the UK."

The goal is to have a further 300 restaurants trading across the country in the near future.

The idea for Creams Cafe came in 2006 when the two founders spotted a gap in the market for high-end gelato. Following two years of research, the first Creams restaurant opened in 2008.

Handley Amos, CEO of Creams Cafe, adds: "The success of the first store was instant. The second one did even better than the first, so did the third one and it just snowballed; ever since, Creams has doubled in size every single year."
