Children’s swimming provider Nemo Swimming has welcomed franchisees in Coventry and Solihull, and South Tyneside. The announcement comes after Nemo Swimming formalised plans in 2017 to extend its franchise network across the UK.
Nemo Swimming Coventry and Solihull, headed up by local mothers Tineke Booth and Daniela Ford, became the company’s first franchise business in July 2018. Shortly after, the company publicised that Rachel Cockburn, one of its long-term swimming instructors, would be taking over existing operations in South Tyneside. Both franchise businesses will offer baby, toddler and preschool swimming lessons in their respective areas, with new terms commencing in September 2018.
Theresa Nicholson, co-founder and director of Nemo Swimming, says: “We are so excited to welcome our first franchisees to the Nemo Swimming family. Although the franchisees all come from different backgrounds, they all have one thing in common: a passion for working with young children and a desire to lead a fulfilling career while maintaining a positive work-life balance. After receiving extensive training, the franchisees are ready to ‘dive in’, and we can’t wait to share their successes with you.”
Rachel says: “Swimming is a life skill, and it’s something that I don’t think gets anywhere near the attention that it deserves on the national curriculum.
“I’m a fully qualified secondary science teacher and taught in state education for over 10 years. When the opportunity arose to join the Nemo Swimming team as a franchisee, it allowed me to combine my love of teaching with my passion for encouraging swimming at a young age.”
Daniela adds: “The Nemo Swimming franchise model really appealed to us for a number of reasons. We were particularly impressed with the way the company’s lesson plans had been carefully structured to take into consideration the milestones that children should be working towards at each age group – we felt that this was quite unique and, as a parent myself, it’s a concept that really appeals.”
