Recent statistics show that franchising is going from strength to strength. Over 48,600 franchised units contribute an estimated £17billion annually to the UK economy and employ more than 700,000 people.*
Successful franchisees are increasingly choosing to expand their portfolio, confident that they can replicate their achievements. In fact, figures suggest that around one in three franchisees now operate more than one unit: unsurprising given that 93 per cent of franchisees claimed profitability in 2018.*
Existing franchisees looking to expand, or those with the liquid capital to invest in more than one franchise unit from the outset, will find the Multi-unit Franchise Conference, sponsored by HSBC, an invaluable opportunity to learn more about this lucrative approach to business.
Dedicated to shining a light on multi-unit franchising and exploring the unique challenges and rewards of running a portfolio of franchises, the conference on Friday 4 October at Birmingham’s NEC will feature a series of presentations from highly successful multi-unit franchisees and senior representatives of well-known brands.
Highlights of the speaker line-up include Starbucks franchisee Bobby Sidhu and head of international development at Slim Chickens Judd Williams, who will discuss different strategies for expansion from resale acquisition to master franchising.
Simon Wallis, keynote speaker and international managing director at Domino’s Pizza, will share Domino’s vision for the future. He’ll touch on the new markets the brand is looking to explore, product developments and expansion opportunities for the globally recognised brand and its franchisees.
During a panel session, other industry veterans will discuss how to create a long-term growth plan in the current economic climate. Subway’s area development agent, Tesh Patel, will share the stage with multi-brand franchisee Neel Sodha, who currently owns branches of EE, Domino’s Pizza and Anytime Fitness. Each is well placed to share their personal experiences to guide and inspire the next generation of multi-unit operators.
