Caremark care assistant wins national ‘Incredible of The Year’ award 2025

Published: 05 February 2026

Caremark Raj

Caremark, one of the UK’s leading providers of home care, has named Rajwant Sandhu (Raj) as its most ‘Incredible’ care assistant of 2025.

At a prestigious award ceremony held at Fortnum & Mason in London last week, Rajwant was recognised amongst ten outstanding ‘Incredibles’ finalists, chosen from a pool of more than 6,500 Caremark care assistants from across the UK.

Caremark’s ‘The Incredibles’ awards recognise those care assistants that have stood out for their exceptional care, dedication and compassion. Ten finalists were named with Rajwant being selected as the national winner.

Rajwant has been a care assistant at Caremark’s Dartford & Gravesham franchise since 2019. Raspinder Singh and Gursh Baryah, Managing Directors of the Kent-based franchise, who nominated Rajwant, explained why she is such a worthy winner:

“Rajwant is not someone who seeks attention. She quietly gets on with her work, but the praise and gratitude from her customers and their families speaks volumes. She is trusted, respected and loved by those she supports. She handles complex and challenging situations with a calm professionalism, always ensuring her customers wellbeing, dignity and safety are prioritised. She is also one of our mentors for new carers, taking the time to guide and support them, especially those who are new to care, with patience and kindness."

“One example that stands out is a male customer who was extremely resistant to personal care. Other, very experienced carers struggled and simply could not break down his barriers.  His wife was becoming increasingly distressed with the ongoing, seemingly never-ending struggle. When Raj went in, she approached the situation with calm persistence and empathy. To everyone’s surprise, the customer simply accepted her help without fuss. Raj’s no-nonsense but compassionate manner lifted a weight from the family and ensured the client’s dignity and hygiene were maintained."

“Another remarkable example of Raj’s dedication is with Jenny, a customer she has supported since 2021. Jenny has advanced dementia, little support from her family, and a beloved dog, Teddy, who was her only companion. Over the years, Raj has not only provided outstanding personal care to Jenny but also become her strongest advocate, going above and beyond every single day to ensure her wishes are respected and her quality of life is maintained, including walking Teddy, cleaning Jenny’s house, liaising with social services, and taking Jenny to hospital appointments.”

The daughter of one customer said: “Raj is amazing and the support she provides for mum is exceptional. She understands her needs and takes care of everything without me having to worry about it. No one else comes close. She is very caring and we trust her completely.”

Commenting on winning the ‘Incredible of the Year’ award 2025, Rajwant said:

“I'm proud of it. I love this job so much. I don't think I can do any other job except this . . . I don't feel like it’s a job. My customers are like family. I try to look after them and, at the same time, I'm doing the work, earning money, and enjoying my work as well.”

Raj finished by saying: “I'm very pleased and that makes me feel like I need to do more, I need to achieve more as well. This is an opportunity to achieve more.”

David Glover, CEO of Caremark, praised all the finalists, commenting:

“This is my favourite day of the year when we get to celebrate the very best of Caremark – providing exceptional, highly-personalised care. With over 6,500 care assistants at Caremark, it has been incredibly humbling to read through so many commendable nominations for this year’s awards. Care assistants don’t always get enough recognition for the amazing work they do, so this is our chance to show them how thankful we are for their dedication.

“Raj is a very worthy winner of our ‘Incredibles’ award for 2025.  Her ability to build long-term relationships with customers, providing reassurance, consistency, and going above and beyond to ensure their wellbeing and dignity, makes her an indispensable member of the Caremark team. Congratulations Raj!”
