Caring entrepreneurs celebrate as employee crowned CAREGiver of the Year

Published: 21 December 2015

Sandra

Caring entrepreneurs Paul and Sandra Edden are proud employers of Home Instead Senior Care’s newly crowned CAREGiver of the Year 2015.
Paul and Sandra’s Newcastle-under-Lyme franchise is in its 6th year of operation and grown to provide care and companionship to over 100 clients with a team of 60 CAREGivers.
The husband and wife franchisees are truly passionate about changing the face of ageing in their territory, which covers the whole of Stoke on Trent and Newcastle under Lyme, 100 square miles in all.
Having one of their team receive Home Instead’s highest accolade was a highlight of the pair’s franchise journey to date.
They are thrilled for their officially award-winning CAREGiver Keith Alldritt who joined their team in February 2014 and found a completely new vocation in life with the bespoke homecare brand.
Keith is a retired police sergeant who spent 30 years on the force with the Staffordshire Constabulary before turning to a second career in homecare.
The award recognises Keith’s extraordinary efforts on behalf of his Home Instead clients. The father-of-two has consistently gone above and beyond to help improve the lives of seniors, creating Life Journals which have given several older people a completely new zest for life.
As well as creating the Life Journals – which involves Keith researching historical information about his clients’ lives, drawing on his police investigative skills honed over 30 years in the police  – he also takes his clients back to visit places that were important in their lives.
On learning Keith had received this year’s award, one of his clients, a 95-year-old gentleman, said: “I’m chuffed to bits for Keith. He deserves a big cheers for what he’s done for me and for writing it all down in my own book. He cares through and through.”
And Keith’s commitment to delivering homecare the ‘Home Instead Way’ has earned him personal praise from the Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care at the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Said Andrea Sutcliffe: “This is the kind of care and support that definitely meets the Mum Test – care we would be happy for ourselves or anyone we love to receive.
“What a difference Keith is making to the lives of the people he is supporting – it is exactly the kind of person-centred approach that my inspectors are looking for and that everyone receiving care deserves.”
Keith, a father-of-two, now has a BTEC Level 2 in Care amongst his professional qualifications, Diplomas including Health and Social Care as well as Home Instead’s bespoke Alzheimer’s City and Guilds qualification.
“I loved my time in the Constabulary, but working in homecare, helping older people continue living in the comfort and familiarity of their own homes, is the most rewarding experience of my career to date. I’m humbled and honoured to receive the award,” said Keith.
Franchise owner Paul Edden added: “Keith is an outstanding CAREGiver who focuses on the simple things that touch the lives of his clients. He changes lives and is a superhero in his local community. We are proud to have him as part of our team.”
Home Instead Senior Care is looking for more caring entrepreneurs like Paul and Sandra - who want to be employers of choice in their locality and provide quality care and companionship to seniors through a franchise business.
More than 170 passionate franchises are part of the Home Instead Senior Care mission to change the face of ageing.  There are 150 territories available for caring entrepreneurs to be a part of the brand’s mission, as well as a number of territory resales.
